I'm Marlena Tanya Muchnick, a Jewish convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am an Ashkenazic Jew. My family is from Berdichev, Ukraine and Hradisha, Czechoslovakia. When I reached middle age I found the Gospel of Jesus Christ and became LDS. It took time to understand that there is more to life and to our eternal lives than I had been taught. I found and do find joy as an LDS member.
After baptism on April 6, 1988 at age 47, I served a short mission in the Texas Houston area. I've held numerous callings in the Church and I work in the Family File office in the Seattle temple where I am also an ordinance worker.
I owe my life to our Savior, Jesus Christ. I obey the personal revelation I receive, which is to be a facilitator of understanding between the Jewish and the Mormon people. As part of this direction, I speak to Latter-day Saint audiences to help them understand Jewish customs, religion, essentially the interconnections between Joseph and Judah, the reigning families of the 12 tribes of Israel.
The more we understand about Judaism, the more we will appreciate Torah and Talmud, and even more so the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, the Pearl of Great Price, and partake of the Restoration of the full Gospel of Jesus Christ, our Master.
